Our Existence
The name Kannan pathology has been synonymous with Blood testing services in Mysore city since decades.
The center was started by Dr.N.Kannan on 5th May 1968 in a small 2 room shop at Gayathri Bhavan Buildings,Dhanavathtri road in the erstwhile Princely State of Mysore.
Right from the beginning personal attention to all aspects of the lab was a hall mark of Dr.Kannan.Starting with drawing the blood personally and conducting,analyzing the tests himself,the reports were also hand written by him personally.
This gave great confidence to the doctors and patients who were assured of the quality of reports. This same system has been continuously followed since the last 5 decades with the hall mark of the lab being personal attention and reports of assured quality,with the passage of years and advancement of medical science,latest cutting edge technology was adopted without losing sight of the basic principles of personal care and personal touch.
He was joined by his son Dr.K.Lakshman who completed MD in Pathology at Kasturba Medical College Manipal.
Dr.Lakshman brought in modernization and computerization in to the center with introduction of thyroid hormones by Radioimmunoassay – a first in Mysore,histopathology services and a variety of sophisticated instruments and techniques in keeping with the fast pace of growth medical technology.
Genexpert (PCR for tuberculosis) for definite and very rapid diagnosis of Tuberculosis was introduced.Now tuberculosis could be diagnosed within 2 hours as against the previous time of many months by culture methods.
Microbiology department was upgraded with the latest Bactalert 3D and Vitek systems giving the best results for culture various specimens.
Blood culture results was now available in 6 hours against the previous time of 5 days to declare a culture positive.
Sophisticated machines like Siemens Centaur Beckman Coulter AU480 and Olympus AU400 was acquired for Thyroid and other Hormone and biochemical analysis.
Soon after, his second son Dr.K.Praveen Kumar, who completed MD in Radiology, joined the center and started X-ray and scanning services, with special focus on pregnancy and anomaly scans.
Other facilities such as Bone Mineral Density (BMD-DEXA), MAMMOGRAPHY, Nerve conduction studies and Electroencephalogram (EEG) were started by him.With rapid growth another building was acquired and the newly built state of the art diagnostic center was opened in 2016.
During the 50th year of or service we rededicate the lab to the public of Mysore city.With the pledge to never lose sight of our basic principles and motto of honesty, personal care and humanity .
