PATHOLOGY
Pathology is an important field of medicine as it contributes to the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of patients. A pathologist uses information gathered from the microscopic examination of tissue specimens, cells, and body fluids to determine the cause of the disease. Normally, if a physician finds it necessary, he will recommend certain tests for you that will be done in a pathology lab. Earlier, you had to run around looking for a pathology lab, wait for the results and bring them back to the physician.

We aim to provide a safe and friendly environment to deliver excellent research for our patients. We support all clinical research activity across the Trust. The work that is undertaken will support future changes in health care, help to generate new treatments and find better ways to deliver services and improve lives. We want research to be embedded and seen as part of clinical care.
Research staff work with clinical teams to recruit patients into research studies and support them throughout the process. Here at Barnsley we support a wide range of studies, including testing new medicines , new procedures and observational studies where we look at patients with a particular disease over a period of time.
